Year 7-9 HOLIDAY PROGRAMS

Our Year 7-9 Holiday programs offer students an opportunity for intensive revision of the syllabus and assessment preparation. These tutorial courses are offered to students in person or through an online interactive program that is easy to operate.

Our experienced teachers are all subject specialists. We select these teachers based on their experience and their ability to deliver engaging material online and in person to help students achieve their academic goals.

These tutors design their own materials to cater to the specific needs of students and provide comprehensive workbooks that explain how the syllabus content can be applied to construct successful responses to school assessments. They have all worked with MMA in other programs and have proven themselves to be outstanding educators. Many of these teachers are also available for private tutoring which is conducted in students’ homes.

Our programs are proven to be effective in giving students the skills and confidence to tackle assignments and better prepare them for success in exams. The program feedback from students suggests that our courses are a successful way of preparing students for the new term and the assessments that follow.

One of the most frequently asked questions is: How can students be assured that what they have learnt at school will be addressed in the school holiday tutorials? This is an important question because parents and students know that educators can commence their teaching with a number of topics included in the syllabus.

Master Mind Australia solves this problem by sending out a questionnaire to all families participating in the tutorials, before the classes begin, to find out exactly what topics and texts students have been studying, and this information we receive from students is forwarded to our teachers so that they can include it in their programs. This is the same strategy we employ for our Master Class Programs.

This questionnaire also asks families to alert us of any specific weaknesses in the student’s knowledge that may have been identified by the school or the student so that specific topic area can be re-taught and revised by our experienced tutors.

OUR SCHOOL HOLIDAY TUTORING PROGRAMS ALSO INCLUDE:

STUDY SKILLS – Preparing for assessments and exams can be a time consuming and stressful process. Poor study techniques can substantially impact on students' ability to achieve their full potential. These classes are designed to improve students’ time management and goal setting skills. They teach a range of exam techniques that create a structured learning pathway to assessments and introduce specific strategies that students can adopt to manage stress. These classes also reinforce initiatives that allow students to creatively revise and remember the principles and processes studied at school.

ESSAY WRITING – The ability to properly answer extended response and essay questions is an essential skill for all students. These classes specifically focus on teaching students how to write an effective thesis and topic sentences and employ the appropriate evidence in their body paragraphs to substantiate their argument.

NAPLAN PREPARATION – NAPLAN is an on-line national assessment program evaluating literacy and numeracy standards for students in years 7 and 9. The test will be conducted in the month of March. Our classes incorporate NAPLAN preparation to help students revise the structure, format and content of the NAPLAN tests and better prepare students for success.
